This time of year is high season in Florida so if you want to hire a car, you need to book as early as you can. I’ve mentioned before that the economic climate has definitely changed the way in which the major (and minor) car hire companies have changed the way they manage their fleets.

It means that they’ve cut back on the numbers of hire cars they have available at each location, plus they are sometimes keeping cars that are older than six months. What this means to you is that unlike flights, waiting until nearer your departure date will not get you a deal!

In fact the only thing that’s likely to happen is you end up not getting a hire car at all, especially in a popular destination like Florida!

So what to do if you want a Florida car hire? the best tip I can give you is to book your hire car early don’t wait just get it booked. If you are booking at the last minute, then go for a slightly larger hire car as they cheaper groups are usually the first to go.

Be prepared to take what’s available and you can afford, don’t let it spoil your holiday, be happy that you’re one of the lucky ones who actually managed to get a Florida hire car!

It’s the holiday season and you may be wanting a last minute car hire in the UK, what’s your best best bet? This time of year many car hire locations will have no fleet availability so if you do want a last minute care hire in the UK you’re better off trying some of the less popular locations.

Airports are always going to be busy so unless it’s absolutely necessary for you to hire your car at an airport, try a city location, even think about paying the delivery fee to get it at the airport if you really need a car and can’t get one at the location of your choice.

The financial climate has has an effect on car hire companies who’ve reduced their fleet, which means at busy periods cars are in short supply, pushing the prices up.

So if you want a UK hire car then book as early as you can, if you want a last minute booking, be prepared to either pay a delivery fee or, take a car that is in less demand, even if that means paying a little extra.

After all, better to have a car than be without!
